Valley Vortex

I think it would be best to compare this map to a 69 camero that hasn't
been washed in a month. It
is cool, but could use some shining up.
The basic layout for Valley Vortex isn't that bad. The map is set up
with all the resources going
down into one big lump, sorta like a black hole, and it's easy to see
that this is where the map got
it's name. The layout keeps the players separated at first, but the
will have to get closer if they want
to control the rich resources in the bottom of the vortex. This layout
lets players relax at first, but
expect some nasty fights near the end game. This layout is without
a doubt very original, and people
that like to use the Z axis a lot and want a fairly long game will
like this.
However, the map loses a lot of points because, despite the awesome
concept, the map doesn't
have seem to be complete. It seems like a map that is nearly complete
but needs some work.
First, this map has no visual background. No planets, no nebula, nothing.
This makes it very bland.
All you have to look out at is cold space, and since the map seems
to be for long games, this can
get very tiresome, very quick. The music picked is also not that great.
It's the chore music, and
although it is great when you need to feel like something tragic or
really cool has happened, this
map has nothing like that. I got tired of it after hearing some of
the high notes a few times.
The other thing i noticed is that the map has a usual amount of slow-down.
I don't run a dream
system, but you only start with 5 Scouts, 1 RV, 1 RC, and your MS.
I don't expect to have the
frame rates going in the dumpster. It is most likely caused by the
huge amounts of resources on the
map.
So how can i sum this up? I guess by saying that although this map is
pretty good, it feels unfinished.
